Switch and Data's PAIX products provide a full-service, neutral, secure, Class A "open marketplace" where Internet Service Providers, telecommunications companies, and Enterprises can come together to exchange IP traffic in a cost-effective way.
Our GNI product (Gigabit Network Interconnect) allows PAIX participants to enjoy connectivity to one of the richest marketplaces in the nation - the Switch and Data public peering fabric. The GNI is available in a variety of speeds, including Fast Ethernet, Fractional Gigabit Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, bundled Gigabit Ethernet (NxGigE), and fractional and full 10 Gigabit Ethernet, giving you the flexibility your business demands - and it's only a cross connect away.
Our PAIX services are available in 11 locations and 6 markets:

Distributed Peering - MetroPAIX. MetroPAIX extends all of the features and benefits of the Switch and Data public peering cloud across an interconnection of switches residing in the same metropolitan area. Previously available only to those colocated at Switch and Data facilities, MetroPAIX provides access to a proven, reliable public peering switch fabric. The first commercial distributed peering model in the U.S., MetroPAIX has since become an integral piece of many companies' network deployment strategies.

Extended MetroPAIX. In certain markets, Switch and Data has established connectivity to key research and/or educational nonprofit Internet exchanges. In these locations, Switch and Data offers access to these distinct peering fabrics through a Shared Network Interconnection (SNI).
SNIs are available between:
- Seattle PAIX and Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX)
- Seattle PAIX and Pacific Northwest GigaPOP (Pacific Wave Exchange)
- Atlanta PAIX and Southern Crossroads (SoX)
